Something incredible happened to me today and I want to share it with you.

 

I've been taking a lot of cabs today and I got into this specific cab and it was a lady driver.

And more importantly, it was actually a black lady driver. Now that's different. You know I've rarely met women who do uber or who drive cabs, women in the minority, women full stop tend not to do those kinds of jobs. I started to talk with this lady and I noticed that she had about 3 phones on her dashboard and I asked her what are those phones for. She explained to me that she doesn't only drive uber, but she does it for various companies and what she does is wherever the job comes from first she takes the job. And that keeps her with a consistent flow of clients.

Wow. That is so smart.

I've never seen a cab driver doing that. I think that is incredibly smart. And then I started to talk to her about how when a lot of people come to this country they know that there's so much pride in getting a job. I mean starting a specific business, so much pride involved especially if it's something that they don't think is where the area is incredibly pretty prolific or something to sing about if. You know you're not a doctor or lawyer or anything like that. So there's a lot of pride involved in that. And you know she actually laughed. She said the words that I will never forget. And she said that if you are proud if you are too proud you will go hungry. And I thought Wow. That is so true.

I want to take it a step further to say this:

“If you are too proud you will go hungry, but if you are too fearful to take a move, to take a step, if you are too fearful, perhaps you're running a business, and so if you are too scared to learn new things, to learning new systems, if you are too scared to invest in your business, invest in coaching, if you are too proud and think perhaps you don't need the support you will go hungry.’

And it really stuck with me and that's really what I wanted to share with you today that one of the things that have really helped me in my business is putting aside pride, putting aside fear putting aside things that will hold me back. So that I can instead go forth and learn the things that I needed to learn and developing ways that I needed to develop so that I could use those learnings and pull them into my business.

I want you to think about what you are afraid of, what is making you being too proud about or what do you really need in the business that you haven't.

You're making excuses, not a lot of people think that they don't have the money to invest in their business but look at this lady she's walking free for three different companies to make ends meet, to make money so she can reinvest in herself and then that way one day she doesn't ever need to do that again.

So I just think that is just so so so inspirational and that's why I hope you will take something away from this. If you want to move forward in your business and think where is the money to invest in systems you talk about, where is the money to invest in coaching and all of these things. Well here is the thing. If you want to do it and you know that this is the thing that will change things for your business then you need to think what else can I do to make the money in the interim so that I can reinvest in my business, so that I never have to do those other jobs.

it's very different to be an actor and play ‘other people’ and then to be ‘yourself’ on the stage and still be amazing and captivating and have people queuing to buy from you.

One of the key ways that I have been able to achieve amazing things whilst building my brand, including being flown around the world to speak, having my own academy and my own membership, as well as a very successful coaching business and being able to sell services like that at the drop of a hat is because of this one thing….

Speaking on the Stage!

So, I want you to really, really understand how crucial speaking is for your business.

Why should you get into speaking or why should you do more speaking or build your brand with speaking?

Well it increases your email list. It gives you more opportunity, you get invited to speak and to teach. You also get to enroll your clients in one sitting because you are speaking and they are engrossed and captivated by you. But the key way that you are able to have that kind of impact is to create what I call a ‘Signature Talk’.

What is a Signature Talk?

A Signature Talk is a specific talk that represents your:

Messaging

– Brand

– Your story.

 

6 Steps to Creating an Effective Signature Talk That's Captivating

 

Step 1: Unforgettable Opener

The first step in creating a signature top is your unforgettable opener. Whenever you get on the stage to speak of whenever you get in front of the camera to speak, you've got to realize that your opener is what sets the tone for how your talk will be received.

The way you open is what tells people whether they need to pay attention to you or whether they will zone out.

So your unforgettable opener is a crucial step

 

Step 2: Your Back Story

Step number two is your back story. Now whenever I get on the stage I never just start with

“Hi everybody I'm Pam Obasa”

I never start with that. That is boring because chances are whoever introduced you did actually say your name. So why waste those valuable minutes or seconds re-introducing yourself again, no use that to share your story.

So your backstory is really, really critical.

 

Step 3: Why should they care

Step three is ‘why should they care about your topic’.

Why should they care?

You've got to tell your audience why your area of expertise, why your topic is important.

Give your audience three reasons why they should care and these reasons have to be linked to their pain points, so depending on who you're speaking to sit down and think ‘what are the pain points’ and turn them into reasons why they've got to pay attention to you, because that is when you truly grab them.

 

Step 4: Valuable pieces of content

Number four is your valuable piece of content. If you have a 15 minutes talk, then for every 5 minutes you need one value piece.

So if you have 15 minutes to speak you need 3 value pieces, if you have 20 minutes to speak you need 4 pieces etc

Your value pieces are you ‘teaching’ points. But within that five minutes for your value piece you're not going to be teaching for the entire five minutes.

What you’re going to be doing instead is you are going to use a combination of your value piece and key stories.

 

Step 5: Key Stories

Whenever you share something with someone that could change their lives chances are that more often than not they will have objections. They will have objections as to why it may not work for them, why it's not the right time for them.

All sorts of things will come up.

Now your job is to find key stories that will knock down those objections and use those stories to support your value piece.

 

Step 6: Transformation

Number six is a transformation. You've got to share with your audience ‘how’ what you’re sharing will transform their lives.

And you don't say it by sharing how it will transform their lives, you do something that I call ‘Mirroring'.

‘Mirroring’ is when you share a customer success story, not just a testimonial but it's a specific type of storytelling that mirrors your ideal clients where they are right now and it only takes about 60 to 90 seconds to share this piece of transformation using mirroring

Have you ever experienced this hustle and bustle in the morning…

… you wake up and you jump in the shower

…the you go to get breakfast with the kids

… soon you're going to be ready to get out of the door

… you're dragging yourself and the kids out to get to school

… and before you get to your desk to sit down and actually begin your work you’re already stressed.

You’re already sweating, you’re already having heart palpitations or all sorts of things are happening and you haven't even begun your day.

Well that was me! I’d start my day already exhausted.

I’ve spent a lot of time planning and thinking of what exactly I have to do to make our mornings much more easier, much more calm so that I have all the energy that I need to have a successful day.

 

The big change:

 

So here are five things that I've been doing in the mornings that have really really given me that big massive smile every single morning and throughout the day.

 

1. Prayer!

 

 

So the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is to pray, pray, Pray!

I pray because I'm incredibly grateful and I know that my life isn't in my hands

I pray to be thankful to God for who I am and where I am and where I have come from.

I'm not yet where I want to be but Lord knows I'm not where I used to be, I've got a long way to go but I am enjoying this process.

So, prayer has really helped me to just take things off my plate and just the thought of knowing that there is a greater person than me who is actually looking after me and my family and looking after that Journey is just so amazing!

So the first thing I do is pray.

So here's a question for you: ‘Do you pray’?

Do you believe in a higher power?

Whatever it is that you believe in, I really encourage you to start your day by praying and it just really, really puts you in that frame of mind of knowing that you are loved, you are protected, you are under the guidance, you are covered in so many ways, I really could keep going but I really should get to #2

 

2. Affirmations

 

This is one of my favorite things in the morning and that is my Affirmations.

Oh my goodness.

When I first started doing my affirmations I felt like a crazy woman, honestly. I'd be right there in my office, walking up and down, my kids are next door trying to sleep and I'm pacing up and down the room and I'm going…

“I’m the most highly paid speaker in the world. I book paid speaking gigs every single day. My business makes multiple seven figures every single day. I have enough money to put a hundred children through private school and not have to bat an eyelid.

I know, I have crazy things on my affirmations, I don't even know how many I have.

A typical example is at the beginning of 2018 when I said to my friend, “I really want to do more Speaking. I want to get into speaking and I really believe that I will be a power to speak on stage”

This was a huge desire of mine but I was so afraid because I'd never spoken on stage. I've done lots of acting as you probably know, I'm an actress but I'd never spoken on stage as ‘me’.

I'm very good at being ‘other people’, which is what acting is, but being just myself and stepping out on stage, that was tough.

However, the moment I built this desire into my affirmation, would you believe that for the whole of 2018, I spoke so much to the extent that I had to actually turn away speaking opportunities because it became too much.

Your words are powerful

Whatever it is that you want, you’ve got to learn to speak it! Speak it to your hearing.

It’s not just about ‘thinking’ it, you’ve got to SPEAK it into being because the moment those things come out of your mouth you send it into motion into the universe and everything starts to work for you.

Your words are so powerful… If you use them WISELY.

 

3. A Gratitude Journal

 

 

I’m not a huge fan of journaling but I’d been reading a lot about it.

The last time I kept a journal or rather, a ‘diary’ was in school and you don’t want to read those diaries. My diaries were full of negative things every time.

So to me my journaling was just so horrible because I associated it with writing the things that were NOT going well in my life and these are things that I never want to read about again.

However in the last couple of months a few things have happened in my life that I made me want to revisit journaling. But this time I made it a gratitude general.

So I bought myself on a fun book. It's pink and it's gorgeous and I just every single morning I just sit there and I write things that I am grateful for and I cannot explain how magical it feels and how amazing and beautiful it is to just remember the things that you are grateful for.

Don’t take the easy route!

It’s easier to remember things that aren't going well in your life but you’ve got to make an extra piece of effort to put more of your attention on the things that ARE going well by simply writing them down over and over and meditating on those things throughout the day.

So as I drive around throughout the day, as I go about my business, as I spend some time with my kids, ll I'm remembering all the things that I am grateful for.

And by being grateful, more things happen to me that I am then grateful for.

Gratitude delivers more things that you ought to be grateful for. So if you walk around your day talking about things or thinking about things or speaking things that you are grateful for, guess what happens, MORE things begin to happen that you will be grateful for.

Why? Because it’s a ricochet effect. It just grows. It just develops and the more grateful you are, the happier you are, the more joy you have in your life.

So if you’re trying to develop a morning routine I highly highly recommend that having a gratitude journal is a huge part of it.

 

4. Practice Mindfulness

 

 

I've only recently started to read all about mindfulness and that is because my BFF bought me a book on mindfulness for Christmas (Love you Palesa X)

One of the great things that I love about mindfulness and what I’ve started to put in my routine is ‘just being in the moment’. Being in the friggin moment!

Have you ever been in the shower and your mind is somewhere else, you're thinking about your to do list and all the many things that you are still yet to accomplish and all the things that are waiting for you to do in your day?

Yup! That used to be me too!

Mindfulness is all about being in the moment right enjoying where you are right now.

So for example, if you’re driving, try to enjoy that moment. Notice the trees, the other cars on the road, the people, the birds, the things happening all around you and enjoy that moment.

If you’re speaking with a friend, enjoy that moment with that friend. That's not what most people do. What most people do is when somebody else is talking they're not listening, they are ‘listening to speak’. They're thinking “now what do I say in return now”.

That isn't being mindful! Being Mindful is just being still and enjoying whatever moment you’re in.

 

5. I Outsource tasks

 

 

The 5th thing that I do is probably one of the most crucial things that I do as part of my morning routine and that is that I ask myself one critical question:

“What can I outsource”

A lot of people take pride in filling up their day with lots of things to do. They want to be busy busy busy and hustle hustle hustle. I don't think that that's how to run a business.

Being a Lucrative Lady is all about having a Lucrative Lifestyle Business and that is a business that fits with your life.

In my life I prefer to spend time with the people that I love – my children, my husband and my family and friends and just to actually enjoy life as opposed to chasing money because money WILL come.

Money is in abundance!

You really have to believe that.

But in order to achieve my goals, I have to have things that help me. That's why I have to have systems and tools and processes and software and a team in place.


 

The biggest game changers in my business as far as tools and softwares go are:

My CRM (Customer Relationship Management) – Convertkit

My Sales Funnel Builder – Clickfunnels 

My Appointment SchedulerAcuity 

So a huge part of my morning routine is actually about thinking

‘What do I have to outsource’

‘What can I automate?’

‘What can I take off my plate?’

‘What can I delete totally?’ so that I can truly be living my best life now.

So there you have it.

Those are the five things that I do every single morning to kick start my day.

I'm not perfect, I'm far from it and it's taken me some time to develop a good morning routine and I've actually developed an evening routine which I will share with you in another post. But this is a great way for you to start your day.

And even if all you did was choose one of those five things to do in your morning and to do it consistently you will see a great result

Over the course of the Christmas holiday, my family and I went on a once in a lifetime break. We visited my home country Nigeria a place that I haven't visited for 29 years.

A very very long time.

And as you can imagine we were quite apprehensive about this journey and excited but a little bit nervous and anxious and all of the things that come with going to a place that you have never been to or haven't been to for a very very long time.

We didn't have any idea what would be waiting for us. But even though I can say it was a fantastic journey, something crazy happened on this journey and that was that within 3 days into this holiday my mum who is my heart, my everything, fell critically ill.

And this really really rocked our world because it was literally touch and go. And I'm so so grateful that my mum is doing really well and she's getting better and stronger day by day.

But this single experience has really caused me to rethink my entire business model. It shook my world.

I felt like one of those piggy banks, like a money jar that you pick up and you shake and you shake it and it makes a lot of noise. It shook my world my entire world.

My brother and my sister are all entrepreneurs, as is my entire family, we all run businesses and it really really made us think.

I wanted to create this video because I think that the various things that we learned on this journey are really really important. In fact, I wish I had focused on these things before.

Unfortunately, the first few years of building my business have been based around the “hustle” lifestyle. You know, the “work till you drop” and working into the night and then waking up really early in the morning and starting the work again and really literally running the race.

But with everything that happened with my mum and the experience that we had of almost losing her has really caused me to think and to change things in my business.

 

But the greatest thing I want to share with you is this:

 

But the greatest thing I want to share with you is that in making changes in your business, one of the most important things you have to create if you want to create a Success Plan is actually to create a Wellbeing Plan!

What good is it to make all this money in your business and make the 6 and 7 and 8 Figures if you’re unable to actually take a step back and enjoy that with the people you love the most?

What good is it if you aren't able to do that?

Well those are the questions that I was faced as my entire family were going through one of the most horrible horrible HORRIBLE moments in our lives.

 

5 Things to Include in Your Success Plan:

 

I want to share with you 5 things that have really changed our lives and that we are all working on as a family, my hope is that you’ll include these in your Success plan:

 

1. Get off the horse and get some good sleep

 

The first is you need to have a plan for when you will get off the horse and sleep.

It's very easy as an entrepreneur to be running running running running and making it on 4 hours sleep sometimes 3 hours sleep and sometimes, even when you are asleep you’re planning your day, for the following day.

You mind is on your to-do list and you're still adding more to that list.

Why? Because we’re so focused on what other people are doing in their business, what's going on on social media. We are so focused on building “the dream” that we forget to actually put a plan together for how we will make that dream happen.

Now, the key to doing that is actually to learn to take a step back and to look after YOU.

So sleep is #1!

Make sure that you’re getting enough sleep so that your mind is able to rest, your mind is able to take a break and you’re able to physically and mentally be present.

Remember, your mind is a machine, you have to program your mind DAILY.

One of the ways that I program my mind by actually giving it a break and I find that I’m actually more focused and I achieve MORE in less time.

How do you program your mind for success?

 

2. Eat Good Food

 

One of the most dangerous parts about being an entrepreneur is that time runs out.

Do you ever wake up and think to yourself “my goodness, where has time gone?” And you look back at the things you've achieved and even though you've done a lot, It doesn't feel that way because you had so much to do in the first place.

And when that happens, one of the things we tend to sacrifice the most when you're running a business is ‘eating good food’. You end up grabbing and going and then you don't even have the time to just sit down and enjoy a meal.

I know because that used to be me last year 2018. I would literally be taking my lunch break on the sofa with my laptop and it's 5 minutes and I'm up again recording a video, doing a livestream or sending an e-mail.

But I realise that by doing that, what you’re doing is damaging yourself, what you are actually doing is sending a message to your brain to tell yourself that ‘unless you hustle nothing will happen’.

Working SMARTER is key!

If you just work smarter you will achieve everything that you want to achieve in your business and still have your personal life and your loved ones and those key relationships that matter still intact.

 

3. Exercise Daily

 

Last week I had a strange question from one of my best friends

“How do you create Products so quickly Pam”, she asked.

I had a long think after I got off the call, thinking, ‘what is it that has given me a spring in my step?’.

It’s a number of things, but I want to share with you a productivity secret that I have discovered…

If you’re a busy mum like me (I have 2 boys under five, a two year old and a four year old)

I also cook every day and all of these things happen on top of my businesses.

One of the key things that I've started to do that has really made a key difference for me is that I now exercise at NIGHT.

Yes! So when my kids come home from school and from nursery, we do homework, we then have dinner, we spend some quality time together and when they've gone to bed I workout

The key the reason why I do this is because I really believe in the power of going to sleep happy. I really believe in going to sleep and ending your day on a HIGH.

I find that when I wake up in the morning because I've gone to bed on a high I wake up on a high, I wake up happy, I wake up with a spring in my step, I wake up excited for the day and I'm ready to smash this day.

And that's exactly what has been getting me through and really supporting me through this extremely tough season.

I’m getting more done in LESS time.

4. Take Time OUT

 

I made a commitment to myself last year that I would no longer work on Fridays or at the weekends and I won't be working on the evenings.

Now that leaves very little time for my business but I want to get to that in a minute to tell you how I solve that problem. 🙂

Taking time for yourself is extremely crucial.

Why? Because you’re at the heart of your family.

If you are a lady and you’re reading this right now, know that you’re a Lucrative Lady

The key to building a LUCRATIVE business is to understand that unless you look after YOURSELF unless you become “selfish” and prioritize yourself and just take a step back, that will not happen.

 

5. Use Systems, Softwares and Process to AUTOMATE your business

 

If you want to create your success plan and your well-being is at the heart of it, one of the key things you want to do in your business is to make sure that you have systems processes softwares running your business with you.

Now a lot of the things that happen in this online space and when you're an entrepreneur especially, if you're a Coach or a Consultant is that you end up working by the hour.

You're constantly posting on social media, trying to book people on the call. You have to get on the call with those prospects.

There's a lot that involves YOU directly running your business and at the end of the day even if you do hit those 6 figures, when you work out how long you've actually worked in your business you've probably been working at £8 per hour or $8 per hour or even £5 per hour. Who knows?

I'm probably hitting a nerve right now and I'm glad I'm hitting that nerve because I'm all about the truth.

And this is the truth, when you look back at all the work that you have put in your business you were probably better off getting a job.

You'd be paid more and you'd be clocking out at 5:00 p.m.. Now that's tough because it's the truth.

Now how do we turn this around?

Well one of the key things that has allowed me to be able to spend quality time with my family in this season and look after my mum which you know is the best thing in the world for me right now, one of the things that has allowed me to be able to do that is because I have Sales Funnels running my business and systems.

I'm running my business but AUTOMATION is at the heart of it so that whether I'm here or I'm over there at the other part of the world looking after my mum or I'm doing the school run or I'm in the school assembly watching my son sing or something, that business is still running and my team are still at work.

So I want to ask really really difficult question.

What is your success plan for 2019 and beyond? What is your well-being plan?

How are you going to make sure that you are still going to be here next year? In 10 years 20 30, 40 or 50 years?

How are you making sure that these things that you’re building, that you actually get to enjoy them?

What is that plan?

That's a tough question and I want you to sit down today and answer them and write in the comments.

I want to ask an even tougher question which is this:

What systems, software and processes do you have in your business?

If you had to leave for a couple of weeks or a few months what would your business look like?
