“How to use CONVERTKIT to run an online business (ConvertKit Tutorial)”

All sorts of things today I bring you one of my favorite tools that have helped me to run my business with absolute ease. 

It is completely reliable. This is the tool that I teach my clients. It is really good on the wallet too, of course, convertkit.

 I absolutely love convertkit because it has really really good automation rules.

How to create an account on CONVERTKIT for free in 2021

So let’s start, this deep tutorial for how to use convertkit in 2021 is your full guide for converting. 

• Click on this link Convertkit.com
• Click on Signup
• Then click on No. I’m Starting with Email
• Then Click on Yes or No
• IF Yes Then select the Platform which you are using 
• IF No Then Select Your Creator Interest

• Then add your Email and Password and click on Get Started.

Now Everything is done, you have successfully signed up on Convertkit.

DASHBOARD OVERVIEW

The first thing you’re going to see is this 

• Welcome to convertkit Message

You also have a welcome video which you can watch brilliantly. So this is Nathan Barry, he’s actually quite active when it comes to convertkit and I really love the business.

• Get Started Checklist

Some things to get you started are 

1. Create a landing page 
2. Share on Social Media
3. Text or Email 10 Friends
4. Add your First Subscriber
5. Send a Broadcast

The dashboard is so clean. It is so unique & beautiful and it’s very easy to use.

The first thing you can see on the Header is 

• Landing pages and forms 

Whenever you want to collect an email from somebody so you know they want to get onto your email list. You’re going to either need a landing page or a form.

• Subscriber

Then your subscriber list will be, So everybody who is subscribed to your business. Will be shown under subscribers.

• Broadcast

Then this is broadcast under your free account. Convertkit allows you to send broadcasts which I think is fantastic. 

• Products

Products if you have products then you can find out exactly who has bought your product so convertkit is amazing.

• Automation

In the automation section, you can do automation related to your business. I’ll show you the automation and how to use them because it has definitely been a game-changer to my business.

• Learn

Of course, learn, this is where you learn tutorials, etc

CONVERTKIT ACCOUNT SETTING

The first thing we want to do is actually to Set up your account properly so click the drop-down, Where your Name is

• Add Company Name

The first thing that you need to do is in the account setting add your Company Name. Then click on Save Setting.

• Add Your Email

I highly recommend that you do it that you have a business email and you can see there’s a warning on the screen, it says 

“You’re using that free email address which can negatively impact your deliverability.”

So you want to use an email that actually belongs to you so whatever your brand is. If you have a domain for your brand, get an email associated with that.

Connect that domain with this account and then verify that email address.

IMPORT SUBSCRIBER

Now I want to tell you how to import subscribers from a different email list over to convertkit.

This is something that’s very very easy to do and you might want to do this if you have another email provided somewhere else and import all subscribers here. 

1. So click on Subscribers 
2. Then click on Add Subscribers

There is More Option

• Add single Subscriber: If you want to add a single subscriber then choose this option.

• Import from another Provider: If you add a subscriber from Another Provider then Click on this option.

• Import a CSV: If you want to add a subscriber through a CSV file.

Then click on this option and upload your CSV File and Map the Column to Field.

How to create a form in CONVERTKIT

You can create a form and embed it anywhere on your website, sales page, or web page that you host yourself.

So this is for people who already have a website, a web page, a sales page or anything like that you use a form.

Then I will show you, How to create a landing page and attach a form with landing pages, only for those who don’t have their website.

• Click on Landing Pages and Forms
• Then click on Forms

There are 4 types of forms

1. Inline Form: So you can see if you have a blog post. Inline Form in the middle of your blog post.  Above text Then Inline Form Then Again Text

2. Model Form: Modal is essential means that it’s going to be some sort of pop-up and it’s going to blur everything else in the background.

3. Slide-In: In the Slide-in, all your content is in the middle and then it slides in on the bottom right-hand corner.

4. Sticky Bar: Sticky bar goes right at the top so this is when you let’s say if you have a brand new podcast episode you want to put up.

Either way, it doesn’t really matter, Which one you choose, so let’s do the first one which is inline Form. 

So once you click on that then you have various templates. Right convertkit is brilliant at giving you great templates; if you scroll through you can look at all the various templates. 

That you can use right but for the inline. You can choose which you like, But I choose Clare.

In the Next Step, You can add more fields, First Name, etc. You can change the color of the Button, which is related to your brand color. 

When you have done all of your changes, then click on the Save Button. 

Now you preview your form. You also can check the reports on how many people visit on this form and who can subscribe through this form. 

By clicking on the Reports Button.

FORM SETTING

So settings, Now you have to do some settings

• First click on Setting
• If the visitor subscribes or clicks on download, Then which message or where you want to redirect your visitor. For Example, If you have a Thank You page or sales page, You can Redirect to there.

• Domain Name: The next thing you want to do is select your custom domain if you don’t have your custom domain.

Don’t worry convertkit provides your domain, just click on it and move forward. 

• Alternatively, if you wish to add your own domain, go to Account Settings, click on Domains, and enter your domain before hitting the Save button.

INCENTIVE Email

There are two options here 

• Auto-confirm new subscribers

AutoConfirm new subscribers which means that convertkit is going to auto-confirm.

I mentioned earlier the danger of this is that When people use a fake email address or a wrong email address that by accident is added.

You’ve also confirmed them and that means that they won’t get the lead and this is a paid option.

So make sure you uncheck this and leave it and use Send incentive email.

• Send incentive email

        Send an incentive email and then you want to click on edit email content and the first thing you want to do is change your From email address to an official email address. Where you want to receive subscriber notification. 

      The second thing you want to change the subject to is something related to your landing page which you created.

        After that, you need to change your message text in the email. This means what you want to send to your subscriber after clicking on the Download Now button. 

You read your message and you have something in there that is in more alignment with your brand once you have done that you click on the Save button.

• Add URL or even Files 

      So now the next thing you want to do is you actually want to add the download file.

So you can add a URL if you have your lead magnet saved somewhere else it could be dropbox, google drive, amazon s3, etc. 

It doesn’t matter or a simpler way is actually just to click on the Download button and choose the file that you are going to be giving them.

Now you want to check in advance again. It’s asking you if somebody comes back and sees this landing page?

You want to continue to 

• Show the form 
• Hide the form 
• Show a custom content 

it’s completely up to you which option you want to select.

EMBED OPTIONS

After clicking on the Publish button, the pop-up opens and Now you have several different options.

So you can use javascript, an HTML script and you can actually just share the form as it shows, or if you have the WordPress plugin then it’s actually very very easy to use that form.

HOW TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON CONVERTKIT FOR FREE?

• Go To ConvertKit.com
• Click on Signup For Free

Now Everything is done, you have successfully signed up on Convertkit.

HOW TO CREATE A LANDING PAGE FOR FREE USING CONVERTKIT?

In this tutorial, I will tell you how to create and design them and all of that good stuff and you can do this in a matter of minutes. Let’s head inside to get to the landing pages.

• You need to go and click over landing pages and forms

• And Then Click on Create New or Create a Landing Page

Now you can see what’s going to happen and this is the beauty of convertkit is that it gives you lots of beautiful templates that you can use to create your landing page so it’s already pre-created.

• Now we have to choose a template
• Change Title, Description, Color, and Font

If you choose your template, Now you need to change the Title Text, Description, Font even everything which is not looking good.

• Change Image convertkit Template

Now if you want to change the image then click on crop and edit. 

Then Upload an Image From your device and you can choose a different image from Unsplash.

There are a lot of options to edit your image like crop, rotate, etc

• You Can add more fields

You can add more fields like if you want to collect Name, Email. There is an option to add more fields and then edit the text message. You can change the field text color and size and Font family.

HOW TO CHANGE THE LANDING PAGE NAME IS CONVERTKIT?

If you want to change the landing page name, click on Pencil and add your custom text like in the given image.

You have changed your Landing Page Name.

Now you have successfully created your first landing page using convertkit for free.

Now hit the save and publish button on the right.

LANDING PAGE SETTING IN CONVERTKIT

Your landing page has been saved.  So now there are other things which you need to do in the General Setting.

1.     GENERAL SETTING 

• Click on the Setting button on the right upper corner

• If the visitor subscribes or clicks on download which message or where you want to redirect your visitor.

1. If you want to show a custom message then click on 

Show a Success Message,  and add your message in the text box.

2. Or if you want to redirect them to an external page then click on Redirect to an external page and add your external Page link or another landing page that you created using convertkit or even you can redirect to your website.

2.   DOMAIN NAME SETTING

• The next thing you want to do is select your custom domain if you don’t have your custom domain, don’t worry convertkit provides you domain just click on it and move forward.

• Alternatively, if you wish to add your own domain, go to Account Settings, click on Domains, and enter your domain before hitting the Save button.

3.   INCENTIVE EMAIL

There are two options here 

• Auto-confirm new subscribers

    AutoConfirm new subscribers, which means that convertkit is going to auto-confirm.

Now you want to check in advance again. It’s asking you if somebody comes back and sees this landing page?

You want to continue to 

• Show the form 
• Hide the form 
• Show a custom content 

it’s completely up to you which option you want to select.

4.   SEO & ANALYTICS

In this section, You can add your SEO title and SEO description and image, So this is very very important. 

So add your title and description because SEO will pick up keywords such which are in your SEO description text box.

Then you can add your Google analytics, Pinterest, Facebook business, etc.

Then click on the Save button. 

Once you have finished then you can hit Publish.

To check stats for your landing page, click on Reports, and if you want to download your subscriber then click on Download subscriber List.

Now you successfully created your landing page using Convertkit. 

Now you Can share this on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even embed this page to your WordPress Website. 

BROADCASTS EMAILS

The next thing I want to show you is how to actually email your subscribers and it’s called broadcast emails. So remember under the free account of convertkit you can send broadcast emails.

• Click on Broadcasts, On the upper corner of the header.

On this Screen, You will be able to see the status of all of your broadcasts that you have.

So if any drafts, any emails that are processing, the emails that are queued, or any emails that have been completed will be shown under these tabs.

• So Click on New Broadcasts

You’re going to see the three steps 

1. Content

The first thing you need to do is in Content, Add Subject and Body Message. You can add images, buttons, divider, video, HTML blocks, or a file in the message.

2. Recipients

In the recipient’s Section, You can add your subscriber list. 

There are a lot of options, You can add filters to remove or add any specific form or subscriber list.

3. Preview

Then you can preview your Broadcasts. Here you can see your 

• Sending Email
• Your Subscriber List
• You Broadcasts Overview

Then Send Broadcasts, by clicking on this button Convertkit starts to send your Broadcasts to your subscribers.

HOW TO CREATE AUTOMATION USING CONVERTKIT

Now how do you create yours, so we go back to the general automation before you can create automation? You need to create something known as a sequence. 

1. Click on Automation
2. Then click on Sequences and then Click on New Sequence.

3. Add your Sequence Name and Click on Create Sequence.
4. Then add your Subject line and Add your Email Body.
5. Then click on Publish 
6. Then add more Emails by clicking on Add Emails.

Should be about five emails which is your welcome sequence. So I highly recommend that on email three you send some Sort of offer and some sort of call to action. 

7. Then set up the scheduled date and Time of all Emails.
8. Then First Publish All emails.

Then,  Go to the back and click on automation and then click on New Automation.

1. Add your Automation Name, then click on Create Automation.
2. Then click on Join as Form and Choose your form and click on Add Event.

3. Let’s do that sequence again so I’m going to add them to it. I think I created a youtube demo that was a sequence.

So now click on add action and now I have created very simple automation just three steps right. Somebody grab this. I want you to tag them and I want you to add them to this sequence.

4. Then click on Finish.
