I was living every Entrepreneurs DREAM… or so I thought!

I’d grown my following to quite a decent number and each time I’d livestream, so many people would tune in to watch

It was exhilarating…

It was Exciting…

That buzz you get when you have an audience,

Those likes, comments and shares…

That confirmation that you’re having an impact

…bringing transformations

…changing lives… all from the comfort of my home

I loved every minute of it…IN THE BEGINNING

One day I needed to send some money to a friend for a birthday cake she was making for my son.

I logged in to my bank account and I. WAS. SHOCKED!

£53!

I couldn’t believe it at first!

I had to check that I’d logged into the correct account!

I swiped left to check my other accounts… £121, £77… with the account with the most amount of money in it being £147

It was my son's birthday and I knew that I wouldn’t have enough money to pay for his party.

The invitations had gone out, I’d invited every child at his nursery, plus my friends children and my family members

I started to dread letting him down, having to call everyone and cancel the party…

What would I tell him?

What reason would I give the guests?

I felt humiliated as I tried to fight back the tears.

Then there was that voice inside…”but you’re so VISIBLE Pam”

“Look at all the people who follow you, like, comment and share your stuff”

“Look at all the speaking engagements you’ve had”

“Look at you now”

That judging voice.

And so I broke!

Tears started pouring down my eyes and I knew exactly why I was sobbing.

I had been “hustling” like all the “experts” say you should when building a business…

Showing up CONSISTENTLY… sometimes not even eating much through the day

Getting up at 5 am and working my socks off till 11 pm sometimes,

Going to bed absolutely SHATTERED because “I was building a business”

I wasn’t paying as much attention to my personal life as I needed

‘Friendships’ were pretty non-existent

I was always on the GO, GO, GO

And you know what the worst part was?

Do you know what the most demoralizing part was?

I racked up ‘followers’ but my bank account was empty!

Which was weird because I was “doing the work”, I was so busy…

But I didn’t have anything to show for it

I didn’t have the clients!

This went on for 18 months!!!!!

One evening, my son, aged 2 at the time came into my makeshift office, which was really the laundry room/dump room… he came in…

He pushed the door wide open and I was sitting typing away on my laptop, writing some Copy for yet another Sales Page.

I lifted up my eyes for a split second wondering why he wasn’t coming in…

But I continued typing away…

I waited a couple of minutes and he didn’t come in…

He just stood there, staring at me, straight-faced, no smiles…

This was very strange of him…

“What’s the matter baby?” I finally asked…

“Mummy will you play with me or are you still working?” he said in a quiet voice

I lifted up my head and as if my ears had been plugged the entire time and now finally unplugged…

I heard the sound of kids laughing and playing outside…

I looked through the window and saw the neighbor's kids having a great time, enjoying the final bit of great British summer… whilst I wasn’t being present for my son

This was the day I said ‘NO MORE!’

This was when I decided to stop being ‘busy’ and finally get stuff done whilst putting family FIRST!

But I didn’t know how! But that afternoon, as I shut my laptop and went out to play in the garden instead, with my little boy, I knew that life HAD to change!

Deep down, I knew there was a better, much smarter way to build the business that I wanted and to provide for my family…

I needed to build a ‘Lifestyle Business’ – I had to find a way.

So, it was with that decision, everything started to change… my life, my health, relationships, motherhood… ME! I simply changed!

But it happened much quicker than I imagined!

Fast forward to today – less than a year later and I’ve built a 6-figure business, working only a few hours a day, 4 days a week.

I’ve been fortunate enough to serve hundreds of entrepreneurs in various ways…

And the best part? I’ve done it without missing another moment in my son's lives, without compromising on family time, my health, relationships.

In fact… my marriage has never been better, my kids have never been happier, family life is now what it’s supposed to be.

So you may be wondering, how did I manage to turn things around in such a short space of time? I’m glad you asked.

Firstly, there was a heck of a lot of hard work involved…

Let me not downplay it, it wasn’t a ‘magic bullet’ situation…

NEWS FLASH – THERE IS NO MAGIC BULLET

But one thing I always knew was that finding the right Mentor to ‘model’ was key.

So, that was my first task.

I looked at Female Entrepreneurs who had a seriously successful business… not the ones who brag about it, those ones are usually all smoke, no fire, no, I wanted the REAL ones, with substance

I found them!

I put my head down and STUDIED their business HARD!

I deconstructed EVERYTHING they did and after a while, a few things kept coming up…

ALL of them had…

  1. A Clear Marketing Message

  2. A Powerful Story Behind Their ‘Why’

  3. They Had Systems and Processes Doing 95% of The work Of Bringing In Clients

I WAS BLOWN AWAY!

Whether it was…

A Sales Page

Video

Social Media post

Watching them live on stage

A webinar

….these 3 things really stood out at all times….

Their ‘Message’ was clear as day, their Story was powerfully told whether they told it in 15 seconds or in 50 seconds, and they had powerful systems and process in place bringing them a CONSISTENT flow of clients

…and did i mention this was all AUTOMATED?

I WAS SOLD!

I went back to dig out my old scripts from my days at Drama School, to look back at how the greats crafted stories and what made stories so powerful!

Finally, i was excited about my business again!

I started testing different types of Storytelling…on different platforms

On a Facebook live stream

Social media post

Whilst speaking on stage

Even when people invited me for Podcast interviews…I’d burst into Story

Blog posts

You name it, EVERYWHERE I showed up, I showed up with a Story and a clear Message!

Soon, people started to call me The Queen of Storytelling

…Soon… I started to get an inbox full of everything from International Speaking Gigs to Clients BEGGING me to work with them…
Me?

For the first time, I realized, because I had these 2 POWERFUL components – A Clear Message and Powerful Story

I didn’t have to be salesy, pushy or gross. No! I just had to be ME, and people would fill my calendar!

Then it was time to put in the 3rd component… Systems and Automation… so that I can truly step back…

That was when I truly fell in love with my business again.

I wasn’t chasing after clients, everything started to work so seamlessly…

It was BEAUTIFUL!

And for once, I wasn’t burnt out!

Honestly, I pray I never experience what I went through ever egain. I’m so committed to protecting this new lifestyle I now have, I see it as a ‘second chance’

I’m incredibly grateful!

2) And that leads me to my second thing. And that is:

A lot of people think that visibility and being on social media or running a business is all about being picture perfect.

But here is the thing about being ‘picture perfect’, people don't believe it. Snap!

Even if you do succeed in being ‘picture perfect’, people won't follow you because you almost make it seem impossible to achieve the things that you have achieved.

So show your human side once in a while

And you can do that simply by:

  • Showing a behind the scenes of what you do and how you do it
  • Hopping on Livestream and talking about your day
  • Recording a video and really just talking from the heart, unscripted about your day.

Really, really important to show your human side

 

3) Let’s skip to #3, shall we?

So what does it mean to be an expert?

Be an expert in your niche, be an expert on your subject. You become an expert by continually learning and teaching about that ONE thing.

But never hide behind the “expert” mask. And what I mean by that is ‘never just always be the expert who knows it all’ because guess what that's boring.

You will be repelling clients.

Wait… have you been a ‘know it all’?

So you want to be the expert but you also want to show your human side.

Share about the areas of your business or of life you are unsure about.

Share the fact that you also have mentors and people who inspire and motivate you, people you look up to. This shows that yes, you are an expert, but as an ‘expert’ you too need coaching, you too need mentoring.

You see how ‘authentic’ that it?

When prospects can see that you’re an expert BUT you’re also honest and authentic and are not hiding behind the expert mask, they will LOVE you!

 

4) And finally…

One of the biggest problems with having a business that’s built around helping people is that most Coaches and Consultants run into the ‘wanting to solve too many problems at once’ syndrome.

(it’s a real disease don’tchu know? )

But, It's like saying ‘I want to solve the problem of ‘hunger’ in the world.

A friend recently started up a charity, and she called me recently and she said: “oh Pam, I’m really gutted because I noticed that there are so many other charities who are doing the same thing, they are solving the same problem”.

“so why is that problem for you?”, I asked

 “well because I wanted to be the first in the game”. She answered

And this was my response,

“here is the thing it's not about being the first in the game. And it's not about YOU solving a BIG problem. It's about you solving a SMALL part of that problem. So it’s not about you stepping out  and wanting to solve world hunger, it's about feeding the ONE child or feeding the ONE family”.

So focus on the SPECIFIC problem that you want to solve.

So for example, let’s say you’re a business coach, what type of businesses do you want to help? Or what type of people do you want to help and how you going to help them?

It's not enough to just say, “I‘m a Coach or I'm a Consultant”

What is it that you Consult on specifically? What type of businesses do you help?

.

Focus on niching in and solving ONE specific problem.

 

And I promise you, you will be calling those people who have that problem and they will know you, like you, trust you and want to work with you.

It’s about 3 am as I pen this and I can’t believe I’m up.

The truth is, it’s Easter and because my kids are not at Nursery for a few days, I can only truly work at night.

Becoming a mum again after losing our daughter is and always will be the BEST thing that’s happened to me.
I’ll always be grateful.

For that reason, I plan a business around my boys, both currently ages 3 and 1.

Honestly, I don’t know how some mums do it.

At this stage, I only work on my business 4 days a week. Yes, there are some days I do have to work at night but I generally avoid that and protect family time at all costs.

But I want to share something with you today that will give you that big shift you’ve been waiting for.

 

The only reason I’m able to work LESS whilst earning MORE, having more TIME and FREEDOM with my kids is that I have the following key things in place:

 

  1. One Core, High-Ticket offer
  2. A Webinar that brings in premium clients on autopilot
  3. A great team

What is a High-Ticket Offer?

 

A High-Ticket offer is an offer above $2,500 per client. In fact, this is really on the lower end.

Some go up as high as $100k for Coaching/Consulting.

Back when I had low-ticket offers, to pull in the numbers I pull in now, I’d have to work with so many people to make it make sense financially for my family and that means no time with my babies.

Look, I get it, having these “experts” through about “High-ticket offers” feels like old news but it really is the key to working less, making more money whilst being able to spend time with your family.

The second thing you need is:

 

A Webinar that brings in premium clients on autopilot.

It’s not enough to have a high-ticket offer and very few know how to sell it! So, you could create your program and really struggle to sell!

Frank invited me to listen to his first Podcast episode and I was so glad I did. This particular episode was 28 minutes long and guess what…

The first 16 minutes of the episode was only STORIES right before Frank makes a subtle offer.

Stories Sell! Period!

When my client Jelani came to me after running several failed webinars, I took out a lot of what he had in his webinar and simply replaced it with ‘Stories’.
